Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a booking?
I handle all appointments digitally! Please click here before booking an appointment online. For bridal bookings please read through my bridal services menu before booking a consult online.
To maximise the Solstice experience, please be sure to leave enough time to find a parking spot! Please park on Ferguson Street or next to the Italian restaurant. If you are lost, or running late, please text me on 0435 165 335. Arriving late may mean your service is reduced, or that I cannot honour your full appointment in the time left - but I will try my best! Full payment of the booked appointment is required even if the appointment time is reduced. For example if we do not have time to cut but one was scheduled in and you were late, you will still be charged for the cut.
Where are you located?
Solstice Hair is located at Shop 2/ 281 Guilford Road, Maylands. I work by appointment only so please be sure to book in advance! There is parking available along Ferguson Street & next to the Italian restaurant. All parking around the salon is free but it is your responsibility to avoid parking in front of someone’s driveway.
Solstice Hair will not be responsible for any parking fines or tow-away fees that have been received during your appointment.
What are your opening hours?
Solstice Hair operates strictly by appointment only and does not offer walk-ins. As I work one-on-one with clients, I may not always be available to greet or accommodate anyone without a scheduled booking. To ensure the best experience for all guests, please book your appointment in advance.
To help appointments run smoothly and on time for everyone, I kindly ask that you arrive at your scheduled appointment time only — not early or late.
Appointment availability:
Tuesday: 12pm – 8pm
Wednesday & Thursday: 10am – 8pm
Friday & Saturday: 10am – 5pm
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations or appointment changes must be made at least 72 hours in advance by texting 0435 165 335. I may not reply immediately as I am often with clients, however your message will be noted based on the time it was received.
A valid credit or debit card is required on file to secure all bookings. A non-transferable and non-refundable booking fee equal to 50% of the scheduled appointment total will be charged when booking.
If you cancel or reschedule within 24–48 hours of your appointment, an additional 25% of the scheduled appointment total will be charged (75% total).
Same-day cancellations, rescheduling, failure to attend, or arriving more than 15 minutes late may result in the remaining 50% being charged (100% total).
These policies are in place to protect the time specifically reserved for you and to minimise the impact of last-minute changes on my business and other clients.
Can I bring my kids or a plus one?
For safety and liability reasons, I kindly ask that you attend your appointment alone. With chemicals, sharp tools, and hot equipment being used throughout the salon, the space is not suitable for children. I also do not have a designated waiting area, so additional guests are unable to be accommodated during your appointment. I work one-on-one with my clients to give you my full attention and create the best possible result and experience.
That said, babies under 6 months are absolutely welcome if they are happy to relax in a pram. I understand this stage can be different, and I’m always happy to accommodate where possible.
Do you cut hair as well?
Yes I do! I believe the key to healthy hair is a regular trim every 6-8 weeks.
Do you do keratin smoothing?
Yes I do! I love keratin smoothing and I use a formaldehyde free formula by Cezanne Keratin. Price starts from $300 and an exact price will be determined at checkout.
How long will it take me to go blonde? Is this possible without any warmth?
How long is a piece of string? It may take many sessions to be blonde or even lighter if you have previous colour build up. I am THE healthy hair colourist and the condition of your hair is my number one priority and I ALWAYS put the health of your hair first. I am not afraid to say no if I think that the condition of your hair can become compromised or can’t handle being lightened without breakage. I don’t do any colour work without Olaplex or K18 and if you refuse to have either as a preventative measure to preserve the health of your hair, I am not the colourist for you.
Warmth is inevitable when going lighter but I can advise on a plan and time frame once I have lightened your hair once and/or done a test strand.
What if I am unhappy with my hair? Can I request a refund?
I do not offer refunds for change of mind or dissatisfaction. However, if there is something not quite right with your hair, please contact me within 7 days of your appointment so I can assess the concern and arrange an adjustment appointment if appropriate.
I genuinely want all of my clients to leave feeling confident and happy with their hair, and I will always do my best to accommodate reasonable adjustments where needed. Adjustment appointments are provided at my discretion and must be booked within 7 days of the original appointment.
Please note, respectful communication is expected at all times. I reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services where behaviour is rude, aggressive, disrespectful or makes me feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Can I have rainbow or pastel hair?
These colours are only possible on the lightest blonde and are EXTREMELY high maintenance. Pastels can sometimes only last 6-8 washes depending on hair porosity, shower water quality, heat styling, frequency of washing, etc. If you understand the maintenance, cost + time required for pastel/rainbow hair I am MORE than happy to help you get your hair goals.
How long will my appointment take?
Cutting/Styling appointments take approximately 1 hour.
Colour appointments can range from approximately 2-6 hours.
For colour corrections, it may take longer and I will advise of timing during consultation.
What products do you use?
I’m a Wella & Redken gal 💅🏽 I use Wella lightener + a mix of Redken shades eq and Wella Colour Touch and Wella Koleston Perfect in salon, along with Pravana for vivid and pastel colours 🌈
When it comes to retail, I’ve taken a more curated approach. Instead of stocking large product ranges in-salon, I offer a personalised selection of my favourite products through a digital shop. This allows me to recommend high-performing products from multiple brands, rather than being limited to just one range. You can find the link to my ShopMy account here!
In salon, I stock a small selection of essentials including COASTAL GRL, the ELEVEN Miracle Duo, and a range of brushes, combs, and clips.
If you’re ever unsure what’s best for your hair, I’ll always guide you toward the right products for your hair type, lifestyle, and long-term goals.
